Arboricultural Planning Services

Our planning services can support you at every stage of development, from pre-purchase advice to BS5837 tree surveys, all the way through to on-site supervision.

Get In Touch

EnviroArb-Solutions Ltd offer a full range of arboricultural services to support planning and development projects. We are experts at identifying key constraints, providing essential reporting, and liaising with client teams and local authority officers to achieve desired outcomes.

We can provide valuable consultancy input at every stage of development:

Pre-Purchase

Our ‘Walkover’ Surveys can identify potential development constraints at the earliest opportunity, helping to inform purchasing and master planning decisions and potentially avoiding costly design pitfalls.

Pre-Design

Our BS5837-Compliant Tree Surveys are undertaken using the client’s topographical survey to ensure absolute accuracy of tree locations. Our detailed tree data is then processed into a Tree Constraints Plan, providing information on the locations of trees and their theoretical rooting areas for consideration in the design process (our plans can be issued in CAD format for ease of use by client design teams). If required, more detailed advice can be provided in the form of an Arboricultural Constraints Report, or other consultancy support can be provided, such as a Pre-Design Site Meeting with the council’s Tree Officer to discuss the proposals.

Design

By reviewing the site layout against our Tree Constraints Plan, we can provide Consultancy Support for the design process, identifying key conflicts between the proposals and the trees and proposing potential solutions. This can include further discussions with the design team and the council’s Tree Officer to work towards a satisfactory resolution in line with the client’s needs.

Planning Application

Our BS5837-compliant tree survey can be integrated into a full Arboricultural Impact Assessment (AIA) Report in support of planning, including Preliminary Arboricultural Method Statements and a detailed Tree Protection Plan to outline proposals for tree protection measures during the development process.

Construction

Following planning approval, the proposals outlined at the application stage can be developed into a Site Specific Arboricultural Method Statement (SSAMS) Report (often required by planning authorities as a condition of approval), which will provide advice and instruction for all construction works that have the potential to affect retained trees on the site. Once site works are underway, we can provide Site Inspection and Supervision services and associated construction support, including:

  • Acting as Arboricultural Clerk of Works to oversee operations in sensitive areas and provide advice on site
  • Creating tree works schedules and managing tree surgery contractors
  • Liaising with the council and client team
  • Arranging and overseeing the installation, maintenance and dismantling of tree protection measures
  • Conducting public consultation and liaison in respect of tree matters
